A new anti-Prie line
I mentioned in the other thread, but thought I would point it out here: Prie mentioned something Yusupov used against his line that made him take a second look.

1. d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 e6 4.Bd3 c5 5.b3 Nc6 6. 0-0 Bd6 7.Bb2 0-0 8. Nbd2

This is the standard line given as the mainline in most resources.

8...Qe7 9.Ne5 Qc7 10.f4!?

Prie registered outright shock at this move because it really commits you to trading the Bishop. This is the same general idea (in a different line) that I give in Zuke - 'Em, to trade the bishop for the knight and quicker development with f4, Rf3, etc.

10...cxd4

It's probably more accurate to play this on move 10.

11. exd4 Nb4!
12. Rf3 Nxd3
13. cxd3

Note, even if this line works it doesn't get us out of what I see as two big issues:

i) Black playing dxc4 and then (after White recaptures with exd4) playing his Bishop from d6 to f4. This might not be theoretically great for Black, but then again it might be. In any case, it is definitely not a position I "like."

ii) The standard Bishop-killing line itself where Black plays Ba3 after Qe7 to kill off the B/b2. Once again, I just don't like it.

[If these two lines do not bother you, you can safely ignore chapter 4, sections 1-4 of Zuke 'Em. Sections 5 and 6 should still be of use as you should get to those lines by transposition.]

RE: A new anti-Prie line
The Palliser suggestion and games in my data base seem the like the reply Nf3 and Nxc6. There are two games in the upper 2400 range. Conquest/ Luther (1995) and Cabrilo/Kovacevic (2006)

This is all rather obsolete now due to the suggestion I make in this article.

Sure thing. In the next edition of Zuke'Em, I'll probably rework the whole 4th chapter based on that line.
